Upcycled Boro & Sashiko · Handmade in Edinburgh
About us
Damage is not the end. It’s a new beginning.
We are Nok and Joey, vintage collectors and upcycling designers based in Edinburgh.
We walk the city collecting second-hand garments and fabrics. Vintage often comes with some kind of damage, and that is how HOIM began.
Repair isn’t about perfection. A damaged part is not the end of a piece. It carries its history, so we don’t hide it. We stitch it into something new.
Every HOIM piece is made by hand and one of a kind.
Our craft
Slow living
Everything moves fast. Fast fashion makes throwing things away feel effortless. Repair is our small act of resistance: a slow, focused practice, and a way to get to know yourself.
Repair is part of healing. When you repair something, you heal it, and the process heals you too.
Selected works
Each piece is numbered, like a small archive. No two are the same.

Hand-embroidered figure, wreath and wand on the back

Wide-leg chinos with white vertical Sashiko lines

Boro patchwork tote, red check lining

1990s Carhartt, tartan patches with Sashiko

Boro patchwork short jacket, tweed blanket lining

1990s Ralph Lauren tweed, patches edged in Sashiko
Small things
Small things, hand-stitched from second-hand cloth: a patched drawstring pouch, passport cover, eyeglasses case and coasters.
Workshops
We host small repair workshops, bringing samples to touch and threads to share. Bring something that means something to you, and we’ll show you how to mend it.
Dates and photos from our workshops are posted on Instagram @hoim_studio.
